Pinch A Penny began in 1975 with the Thomas family opening a discount store within an industrial park in Clearwater, Florida. This first store evolved into a full-time, full-service retail pool supply store offering everything needed to operate and enjoy a swimming pool or spa. Pinch A Penny began issuing franchises in 1976 and has since become America's largest retail pool supply and service franchise, offering a wide variety of products and services to help customers enjoy their pool and backyard to the fullest.

In December 2021, Pool Corporation acquired Pinch A Penny as part of the Porpoise Pool & Patio, Inc. acquisition. This major industry integration combined POOLCORP's massive global distribution network with Pinch A Penny's highly specialized trade systems, tools, and support capabilities. The operational synergy empowers franchised stores with an expanded supply chain, unlocking significant future growth potential across the swimming pool sector.
