Putting up the tree and decorating your home is one of the most treasured pastimes of the holiday season. It comes as no surprise that all those lights and ornaments can become expensive!  We love finding DIY projects that are fun for the whole family and easy on your wallet, and the holidays are no exception!  We found all sorts of fun ways that you can take an ordinary pool noodle and turn it into a work of glittering art.

A quick trip to your local dollar store will give you all the supplies you need to make these adorable elf legs. Just cut a pool noodle in half, slip on some festive socks, and cover the ends with elf shoes and you're all set. You can add some filler to the shoes if they look a little flat and they'll look like there are little elf feet inside.  Stick the legs in a bag, in the tree, or anywhere you want your elf to get into a little holiday mischief!

Make sure you grab yourself some extra noodles while you're at the dollar store, because we have more fun decorations for you to make!  This garland wrapped wreath is a simple yet elegant addition to your front door this holiday season.  The glistening garland looks beautiful against twinkling holiday lights and it's quick and easy to make!  Simply tape the two ends of the noodle together with a strong tape, glue the end of the garland to the noodle, and wrap it close together to keep the noodle from showing through.  Glue the other end when you're done wrapping, add a bow and some ornaments, and you've got a beautiful new wreath to display this holiday season!

Most people decorate a gingerbread house during the holidays, but you can decorate your house as the gingerbread house this year with a few lollipop pool noodles!  Tape together two pool noodles with fun, colored tape, then wrap the tape around it so it looks like a lollipop stripe.  Start rolling the pool noodle into a swirl, hot gluing as you go.  Once the glue has set, cut a small hole in the bottom and put a skinny PVC pipe inside.  Wrap it in cellophane, tie it with a ribbon, and you've got yourself a giant lollipop!  Make several of these to line your walkway, or just make a few to decorate your yard.

Do you find yourself with unused bulbs each year that you can't bear to part with?  Now you don't have to!  Repurpose those bulbs into a giant bulb wreath for your wall or mantle.  Take two pool noodles and tape them together to form one giant circle. Start by gluing bulbs around the inside and outside of the noodle, then start gluing them all over to fill in the gaps.  Be sure to use various sizes to help cover small holes where your noodle might peek through.  When you're done, wrap a large ribbon around it and tie a bow for hanging.  It doesn't get much easier than that!

Santa will feel welcome in your home when he flies down candy cane lane.  Pool noodle candy canes are quick and easy to make and add plenty of holiday spirit to your home and yard.  Just bend the top of the pool noodle to create the "J" shape and secure it in place using a piece of fishing line.  Tuck some tulle or ribbon inside the hole at the end of the noodle and secure with a straight pin.  Wrap the ribbon around the noodle and secure the opposite end in the same fashion.  secure a skinny piece of PVC inside the bottom to create a post to line your walkway, or string them up inside on a line of fishing wire.  Better yet, let them float in the pool with a Christmas tree float or floating Santa.
