How to Clean a Pool Cartridge Filter

Cleaning your pool cartridge filter is an easy job you can do yourself that helps keep your pool system in top shape. The best time to clean your filter is when your pressure gauge reads 10psi over its normal operating level. When this happens, it’s time to clean your filter.

• The first step is to turn off your filter pump.
• Next, open your air relief valve to release the pressure inside the tank. Open the tank and remove the filter.
• This is also a great time to check your O-ring and apply lubricant if necessary. This will keep it functioning properly.
• Spray your filter with a garden hose to remove any loose debris, being careful not to use too much pressure.
• To remove oils from the filter, we recommend soaking your filter with Suncoast Cartridge Cleaner.

• Remove your filter from the bath, rinse again, and let dry completely before you reinsert the dry filter. This will ensure the filter can collect as much debris as possible.
• Replace the filter, close the air relief valve, turn the pump back on and you are good to go!
